A Torch Against the Night By Sabaa Tahir

A Torch Against the Night by Sabaa Tahir is the Sequel to An Ember in the Ashes. It pick up right were we left off from An Ember in Ashes with Elias and Laia as they try to escape from the Empire. Elias has promised Laia that he will help her break her brother out of the Empires worst prison. As Laia brother is the only person out of the Empire that can make swords that could be used against the Empires soldiers. There escape is made more difficult due to Elias mother the Commandant, and that the Emperor Marcus as set Elias best friends Helena the task of catching him for execution. Helena is the only person that would understand the way that Elias mind works and where he would go.

After finishing An Ember in the Ashes I had many ideas where I thought this story could go, but I was wrong there was so many twist turns, and revelation that kept me surprised and hooked for whole book. It left me content in the fact that we got some answers, and certain things were resolved, but left me wanting to know what happens next.

I still have my hatred for Commandant which has grown with this book, I really interested in her motives and why she hates Elias as much as she does.

Slight spoiler  alert **Elias is close to death ** Which I found really hard to read, the character has the same name as my Great granddad who I loved so much. Does anyone else have this problem when reading a book. That the character name connects to someone you love meaning you get more emotional connected.
