King’s Cage (Red Queen #3) by Victoria Aveyard

King’s Cage is book 3 in the Red Queen series, we last saw Mare when she gave up her freedom to save Cal, Newbloods and Scarlet Guard. This book starts as Glass Sword ended with Maven chaining up Mare in front of a Sliver crowd to show the world the Lighting Girl has been caught.

To me this book had a different feel to it, that this book is the build up to something tremendous that will change their world forever.  Because of this there is a change of pace in this book, its like a slow burn. The first half of so deals with Mare imprisonment and what she learns and the second half deals with the ramification of the Scarlet Guard planning and Maven plotting.

I felt that I learnt more about this world from this book, not just the politics but the people. There where a couple of character that my opinions of changed, its seems the need for power is from the older generation and it the younger generation that will suffer to keep it. Which is really unfair and I am glad that I don’t have to live like that. There we also some character that I was disappointed in, hoping that everything that has happened would change them for the better but that wasn’t the case. Then there are the character that I still hate, even after death I learn to hate Elena the evil queen even more.

Now the wait begins for the next book.

I give this book 4 out of 5
