Heartless by Marissa Meyer

I was really intrigued by the premise of this book, the story of how the Queen of Hearts became the Heartless Queen of Hearts. Heartless in essence is a love story, a girl with a dream to open a bakery and to marry of love and not for obligation.

I fell in love with the book from the first chapters, Cath is created in such a way that I was drawn in and fell in love with her from the beginning. Part of this maybe that if I was in that world than I would want to be like Cath, I would want bake, run a bakery and marry for love. I wouldn’t want to be play the game of the gentry and the fake polite society.

This book made me feel like I was going through an emotional rollercoaster, Cath relationship with her Parents, Mary-Ann and Jest pulled at every emotion. There were times that I would have to put the book to calm myself down before I could continue. I would love to read more about Jest as the more I read the more I loved, I believe everyone needs a Joker in their lives.

I feel now that when I read or watch Alice in Wonderland I can will always see the Queen of Heart as Cath and the woman she could have been if her dreams could have come true.

I give this book 5 out of 5.

For me this book has been the surprise book of the year so far I knew I will like it but would never by how much.

Thanks for reading
