Killer Takes All Erica Spindler

Killer takes all is book 2 in the Stacey Killian series and book 3 in the Malone series.

The book starts off in New Orleans Stacey has resigned from Dallas P.D and is taking her masters degree in English lit at New Orleans college.  But Stacey can’t hide from death any longer, her neighbor and friend is killed with Stacey finding the body, bring Stacey back into the world she wanted to escape from. Stacey starts to investigate the crime which brings her into the world of role play games which has turned deadly.  As Stacey investigates the crime she buts heads with the detective on the case Spencer Malone, Spencer has come back to NOPD after being suspended for a crime he didn’t commit. He has been given his dream job but now Spencer has to deal with the cop that don’t believe his innocence and the ones waiting for him to fail.

I enjoyed the fact with books like this that we are welcome back into this world. Where we get to spend more time with a characters but also introduces to more characters expanding the world. I also like the fact we get to hear little bits about the characters that have got there happy endings, like hearing about Stacey sister Jane and baby Annie.

With this story I spent time thinking I knew who was the killer than for something else to happen which changed by suspect. Erica does like to keep you guessing till the very end. I will admit that my first guess was correct although my guess for motive wasn’t.

Also the story had connection to Alice in wonderland with the killer calling him The White Rabbit, which after reading Heartless made it easier to understand the reference as that story still in my mind.

I can’t wait to see what happens next with Stacey and Spencer as I really enjoyed there dynamic and banter. Next book In the series is Last Know Victim which I need to find and add it to my tbr list.

I give the book 4 out of 5.
