Scarlet (The Lunar Chronicles #2) By Marissa Meyer

The second book in the Lunar Chronicles is Scarlet which introduces us to Scarlet I re-imagination of Little Red Riding Hood.

Scarlet story starts with her Grand-mere having been missing for nearly three weeks, the police and the local community think she has left on her own accord, Scarlet knows that her Grand-mere would never just leave. The police have stopped looking so Scarlet wont stop still she finds her, even if this means joining forces with a stranger named Wolf to do that. This is Scarlet story but we are still following Cinder and her escape from New Beijing, they don’t know it but Scarlet and Cinder paths are intertwined.

I really like the character of Scarlet and her love for her Grand-mere, she will stop at nothing to find her, even when things are tough she keeps goings.  I was kept on tenterhooks with Wolf, never knowing if he was good or bad and really wishing/ hoping he was good. The interaction between Scarlet and Wolf is one of my favourite elements of the book.

We find out more about what is going on and also what happened to Cinder. You can feel the story building as more piece of the puzzle slot into place, but with more information you are left wondering what is going to happen next. The world that Marissa Meyer is an addictive place to visit, although I want to do is read these stories and will be sad when the series ends.

If you like fairy tales and want to read a new take on the characters than give this series a read.

4 out of 5.
