The Song Rising (The Bone Season #3) by Samantha Shannon

The Song Rising is the third book in the Bone Season series, the last we saw Paige Mahoney she had just became The Underqueen of the Mime order. In becoming the underqueen she had to betray her mentor Jaxson, but Jaxon Hall betrayal is even bigger when he joins Nashira side and tell her all of Paige secrets.

Paige is on the hunt to find the source of the power for Senshield as if she can disabled Senshield then her and her people don’t have to hide. To find out the core of Senshield Paige ends up journeying from London to Manchester and Edinburgh.

The first half of the book focus on the newly created Mime Order, and how Paige has changed the running of it and the toll it has taken on Paige. The second half of the book is filled with more action as Paige is having to find the core while also dealing with being hunted by Hildred Vance the Scion army leader, where Vance will use mental and physical warfare. I prefering the second hard as it has more action for me that kept me gripped.

One of my favourite parts is the relationship between Paige and Areturus. Paige is struggling as her heart and mind are battling between trusting Areturus or listening to Jaxson telling her that Areturus is pretending to like her to keep her on their side.  The moments between Paige and Areturus are my favourite, even though I spend most of the time screaming kiss him in my head when their together.

At the end of the book you realise that there is more going on than what happen in Scion London. The world is becoming bigger for Paige and I can’t wait to see what happens next.

You know when I book series is good when you finish the book, and start looking for when the next one is coming out. I haven’t found out but I have signed up to Samantha Shannon blog so hopefully I find out soon

I give this book 5 out of 5
