Lake Silence  by Anne Bishop is the first book in the others series where we get to me another community, and the story isn’t connected to Meg and the courtyard.

Vicki Devine lives in Sproing a little town next to Lake silence, a town under the Others control, human law do not apply. Its seems some people have forgotten this little fact. Although I did miss the old characters, I did enjoy the new human and Other character that have been added to this series.

The story is a riveting paranormal fantasy with a crime twist. One of the reason I enjoy these book so much is that it shows that people can be worse than the monsters. Lake Silence is really good at showing this.  I became quickly drawn into the world of Sproing, and all the characters. I really liked the dynamic between Vicki and the Others, she never forgot what they are but she still treats them like everyone else.

I love Aggie Crowguard, her child like wonder at the human world, overlayed worth her animal trait makes her adorable. I would happily give her a shiny. My other favourite characters were the Sproings, cute Other creatures that hang around the shops and get given character when they give the owners their happy faces. There is much more to them than meets the eyes.

In one part of they play the Others version of murder (aka cludeo) I loved how much the Others got into the game. I would love to play their version with them anytime, it would be a lot of fun.

I always like the way in which the Others protect people useful to them and how they get their revenge, I do not know what that say about me but I was smiling a lot reading the last couple of chapter in the books.

Anne Bishop has done amazing job at showing character dealing with condition like anxiety and panic attacks. She has shown how strong a person can be while feeling at their weakest.

This is the first book that I listen to in full (I normally part listern part read) and I enjoyed this audible performance.

I give this book 4 out of 5
