I have a love of crime fiction book that are sent in Ireland, I find the Garda really interesting as a police force.

I found DCS Frankie Sheeran a compelling character, she is dealing PTSD after being attacked in the line of duty, although the memory of the attack is still with her, it doesn’t stop her from doing her job. When I first started reading the book I didn’t realise that she was female, as the focus was about the victim. I liked that fact to be honest, as it shows the focus is Frankie as a Cop.

The crime gripped me from the beginning, a murder that made to look like suicide but there is more to Eleanor death than met the eye. The book has so many great twist and turn that made me keep turning the pages. I liked the fact that the book was fast paced and that they had the real world feel of trying to solve the case before the funding was cut.

The book is a really great start for a new crime fiction series, I am looking forward to seeing what happens next to Frankie Sheeran.

If you are looking for a flawed protagonist and a dark crime fiction I would advise picking this book up.

I give this book 4.5 out of 5.
