Book Review: Smoke and Iron (The Great Library #4) by Rachel Caine

Hi Sadiq !

I have been a fan of  Rachel Caine The Great Library series for the last couple of years, I was interested in reading about a world where it was against the law to own an original book. I have been looking forward to reading Smoke and Iron since I finished Ash and Quill last year.

Jess has started a very dangerous game of cat and mouse with the Archivist Magister of the Great Library. To set his plan in action he has place his teacher in jail, the women he loves back in the Iron tower and he is pretending to be his twin Brendan. With the rebellion they have started gain momentum, it falls to scholars, thieves and burners to save the Great Library before corruption ruins everything that it use to stand for. Now Jess, Morgan, Thomas, Khalila, Dario, Glain, Wolfe and Sanit just need to stay a live long enough to out with their enemies.

In my opinion this series has gone from strength to strenght and this book has now become my new favorite.

Sanit and Wolfe are still one of my favourite bookish couple, even apart they are still helping each other. There love for each other is unconditional, they have been thought a lot together, I like that the quote they say to each other is “A broken bone heals twice as strong.” Santi and Wolfe are my relationship goals, (without all the danger.)

The group is split up at the beginning of the book, so we get the story from other members instead of just Jess. My favourite perspective was Khalila, so is a complex and such a smart character, I loved the way she handle every situation she is placed in, she doesn’t shy away from any challenge.

Smoke and Iron is an epic read full of action and drama, these books always leave me wanting to read more, about this amazing world that Rachel Caine has masterfully created.

I give this book 5 out of 5.
