Book Review: Stain by A.G Howard

Hi Cari Amici,

I first noticed Stain at last years YALC, I was automatically drawn to the book by its stunning cover. The synopsis just sealed the deal.

Once upon a nightmare, her fairy tale begins…

Lyra is a  princess incapable of speech as a child she could only make magical sound. Her wicked aunt wants the throne for herself. She cast her out of the Kingdom of light left for dead in the enchanted forest. To save her life a witch takes her memories and raises her. Disgusting her as a boy going by the name Stain

Meanwhile, in Lyra’s rival kingdom the kingdom of night, the prince Vesper the princes of thorns and night is dying. The only way for him to break his curse is too wed the princess of daylight, for she is his true equal, his other half.

An impostor princess coached by her evil aunt  prepares to steal her betrothed prince and her crown. To save her kingdom and the prince, make peace with the land of the night, Lyra must remember who she was. Without her voice must do everything she can to be heard, and prove that she is nothing like a traditional princess, but someone who would make a strong Queen.

Stain is a beautiful and magical Fairytale that I didn’t want to end.

The characters of Lyra and Vesper are such interesting and compelling characters and you can’t help but route for them. I loved that they were not one-dimensional fairytale characters. They had flaws, both didn’t fit the traditional sense of royalty. The main quality of Lyra and Vesper that I liked are they always tried their best. They do what was the best for their people.

Now let talk about the wicked aunt Griselda, oh do I hate her so.  What she do is plain evil, but a tiny part at the end of the book make you feel sorry for her. If she was just a little bit patient her life would have been completely different.

I was never bored with a single part of the story, as it progress the pace become faster and there is more action. I got 2/3 of the way though the book and new after that I couldn’t put the book down until I had finished it.

There are elements in the book that you can connect to other fairy tales but Stain is a fairytale in it’s on right.

A.G Howard has written a beautiful story and I can’t wait to see what she writes next.

My rating for Stain is 5 out of 5.

Thank you to Abram and chronicles for sending me a copy of the book for a fair and honest review.
