Book Review: Kill Redacted by Anthony Good

Hello asdiqayiy al’aeizza,

,

Today review is about Anthony Good new book Kill Redacted that can out on the 7th February.

Is murder ever morally right? And is a murderer necessarily bad?

A terrorist attack on a London train cause Michael to lose his wife.. Since that day, he has been seeing a therapist to help him come to terms with his grief – and his anger over the situation. What angers Micheal more is  that the man he holds responsible has seemingly got away scot-free.

In Michael mind he doesn’t blame the bombers, who he considers only as the logical conclusion to a long chain of events. No, to Michael’s mind, the ultimate cause is the politician whose cynical policies have had such deadly impact abroad.

While in therapy his therapist suggests that he write his feelings down to help him forgive and move on, but as a retired headteacher, Michael believes that for every crime there should be a fitting punishment.  The  pages of his diary he begins to set out the case for, and set seeking justice by committing murder.

Kill Redacted is a compelling read, with no chapters or pages number you are dropped into Michael world.

Kill redacted is written in a unique way, it through letters and diary entries. Given this as a task in his therapy. But it turns into him explaining how and why he came to his decision.

Michael is an interesting character, he intrigued me. I want to know his story. Although I didn’t like him on a personal level. He doesn’t seem like a nice person, he is all about how things reflect on him and how he wants to control every aspect of his life. I could hear him say my way is the right way, to justify his actions.

There is a melancholy feeling to Kill Redacted, that when Michael lost his wife he lost his connection to the world. The people around him are unaware how discounted his is, and write his behaviour off a grief. I had to remind myself that I am only seeing his side of the story and we don’t know if there was another intervention.

Several moment came out of left field, each making me say oh in a more and more dramatic fashion.

Anyone that like a different take on crime fiction, I would advise picking Kill Redacted up. This book is about dealing with the aftermath of the crime.

My rating for Kill Redacted is 4 out of 5.
