Book Review: Connections in Death (In Death #48) by J.D Robb

Hello Cara,

Connections in Death is book 48 in the In Death series,  I have finally got round to reading it.

Roarke and Eve are building a new school and youth shelter for kid that have had a hard life.

Roarke want to make sure they get the expert help, this is why he hires child psychologist Dr. Rochelle Pickering. She has first hand knowledge of what can happen to kids at cross roads, she decided to help people. Where her brother Lyle joined a gang and his life spiral out of control due to addiction and crime. But with the help of Rochelle Lyle was finally on the right path

Lyle seems like he has got his life together, but Rochelle find his body, it looks like a OD. When Eve gets to the scene she can see that this isn’t a normal OD, but Murder.  Now Eve, Roarke  and her team must venture into the Banger gang territory where Lyle used to run. To find out who murdered Lyle and why, but as they started to dig they realise that more than murder is going on in the Banger world.

The In death series is one of my go to series when I want a crime fiction fix, and Connection in Death gave me the hit I was needing.

The relationship between Eve and the rest of the character is always a favourite element of the book. This time we got to see more of Wilson aka Crack the club owner whose nickname for Eve is Skinny White Cop. The relationship between the two seem like it shouldn’t work but it does, they both respect each other . I was happy that Crack has a romance going on, at the beginning of the book I was hoping nothing happened to his lady friend as I want him to be happy after the loss of his sister.

The case in Connection in Death has two elements, one is the murder of Lyle and the other is the illegal going on in the Banger gang. I like the fact that there was more to this story than a straight up murder. As you can figure out early on who would want him dead, the interesting part is how Eve is going to prove it all.

I will always read the In Death series, I love the character and the case. But as we now on book 48 certain things have become routine. My heart doesn’t race as much use to for certain Roarke and Eve moment.

My rating is for 4.8 out of 5.
