Book Review: Good Luck Girls by Charlotte Nicoles Davis

Hi Cara,

Today review is The Good Luck Girls by Charlotte Nicoles Davis. The Good Luck Girls is Charlotte debut Novel.

In Arketta Clementine, Aster, Violet, Tansy and Mallow are called Good Luck Girls.

Sold as children to “welcome house” and branded with magical markings that identify them as such. Trapped in a life they never have chosen.

On Clementine lucky night she accidentally murders a man. When Aster her older sister finds out what happens, she knew they must escape or face death. Now Aster, Clementine, Violet, Tansy and Mallow must risk there lives to find freedom, justice, and revenge in a country that wants them to have none of those things. Hunted by Arketta’s most vicious and powerful forces, both human and inhuman, their only hope lies in a bedtime story passed from one Good Luck Girl to another, a story that only the youngest or most desperate would ever believe.

It’s going to take more than luck for these Good Luck Girls to survive.

The Good Luck Girls is an amazing book that shows the strength of women and sisterhood.

I felt that The Good Luck Girls is a fantasy mix with an old wild west feeling. The fantasy element with the magic of the veil that powers the raveners the tattoos and the vengeant. The old west comes from the location, law structure even the welcome house.

The Good Luck Girls is mainly told through Aster POV. One chapter is through Clementine POV as she is the catalyst. Aster is an interesting character who is driven by anger, love and protectiveness. These three things are seen in nearly all of Aster actions throughout the book.

Also the writing is engaging and the story has a good pace. As the girls are on the run the pace alters depending on the danger the girls are in.

One of my favourite elements of The Good Luck girls is that they are interesting group of girls.there All have their own stories to why they ended up at the welcome house. The girls are very different and bring different skills. Tansy is the medic of the group and I would like to no more about the medical treatment in their world.

Aster has a good piece of advice, keep a tune in your head when you are going through something. Although my situation wasn’t as bad as Aster and Clementine, it did help me when I was having my MRI.

I like the fact that the ended leaves that story finished but also leave it open for futures stories about The Good Luck Girls.

My rating for The Good Luck Girls is 4 out of 5.
