Book Review: Archangel’s War (Guild Hunter #12) by Nalini Singh

Hi Cara,

I am fully back into listening to my audiobooks; I was so hooked that I finished listening to this book in 3 days. The book in question is the 12th Guild Hunter series by Nalini Singh – Archangel’s War.

The world is in chaos as the power surge of the Cascade rises to a devastating crescendo.

In furiously resisting its attempts to turn Elena into a vessel for Raphael’s power, Elena and her archangel are irrevocably changed… .far beyond the prophecy of a cursed Ancient.

At the same time, violent and eerie events around the world threaten to wipe out entire populations. And in the Archangel Lijuan’s former territory, an unnatural fog weaves through the land, leaving only a bone-chilling silence in its wake. Soon it becomes clear that even the archangels are not immune to this deadly evil. This time, even the combined power of the Cadre may not be enough. . .

This war could end them all

(Synopsis from Goodreads.com)

Archangel’s war is full of everything that made me fall in love with the Guild Hunter series in the first place.

Archangel’s War brings all of my favourite and none favourite characters into an epic battle. Good vs Evils, Death vs Life. No battle will be like an Archangel’s War.

The evolution of Raphael and Elena, power, relationship, friendship and growth of character, is more evident in this book. Especially as they mention past events. As we are book 12 it was nice to have a bit of a refresher.

There were many moments in Archangel’s War that made me generally smile. One of my favourites is when Elean and Raphael are sparring in the comms room. (It think I have a thing for when couples spar.)

In Archangel’s War, we get to find out some more information about the supporting characters. One of the people we find something is Illium. I will take any information about Bluebell I can.

The battles in Archangel’s War took my breath away. It’s fast deadly with some amazing ingenuity tactics.

Archangel war has many different parts to it. Each could be its own book in its own right. As each section has drama, action and humour.

The events of Archangel’s War has reshaped the Guild Hunter world. I am looking forward to what happens next.

Archangel’s War is perfect for any urban fantasy fans as it brings fantasy into the modern world, but with a historical element.

My rating for Archangel’s War is 5 out of 5.
