Knight of the Silver Circle (Dragonslayer #2) by Duncan M. Hamilton

Hi Cara,

Today review is the second book in the Dragonslayer series, Knight of the Silver Duncan M. Hamilton.

Three dragons wreak havoc throughout Mirabay–eating livestock, killing humans, and burning entire villages to ash.

It was nearly impossible to kill one, using a legendary sword and the magic of the mysterious Cup; to tackle three, Guillot dal Villerauvais will need help.

The mage Solène fears having to kill again; she leaves Gill to gain greater control over her magic.

The Prince Bishop still wants Gill dead, but more than that, he wants the Cup, and he’ll do whatever he has to to get it, even sending his own daughter–a talented thief and assassin–into the dragons’ path.

As secrets mount on secrets and betrayals on betrayals, both Guillot and Solène face critical decisions that will settle not only their own fate but that of all Mirabaya.

Knight of the Silver Circle takes the Dragonslayer books in a different direction. The Dragonslayer is an important factor but it’s Amaury thirst for power and the effects it has on Gill and Solene choices.

On the topic of Amaury, I continue to pray for his demise. As a whole, he is an interesting character with his history, motive and intelligence. But he doesn’t have anything I would class as a redeeming feature.

Where in Knight of Silver Circle has a redemption ark for Gill. He is trying to do the nest he can, he’s not perfect and that why I like him. He is an imperfect Knight with honour.

Solene storyline gives us a better understanding of its magic and its connection with Dragons. Which I liked, as there is a stronger connection between the two.

The plot of Knight of the silver circle is a great continuation of Dragonslayer. The world opens up more and the stakes are higher. At only 320 pages its a great quick fantasy read for any fantasy fans that love dragons, magic and political intrigue.

My rating for Knight of the Silver Circle is 4 out of 5.
