Book Review: Sapphire Flames (Hidden Legacy #4) by Ilona Andrews

Hi Cara,

Returning back to the Hidden Legacy series with today review. Sapphire Flame is the first full-length book Catellia as the leading lady. We join the House Bayley 3 years after Diamond Fire.

In a world where magic is the key to power and wealth, Catalina Baylor is a Prime, the highest rank of magic user, and the Head of her House.

Catalina has always been afraid to use her unique powers, but when her friend’s mother and sister are murdered, Catalina risks her reputation and safety to unravel the mystery.

But behind the scenes, powerful forces are at work, and one of them is Alessandro Sagredo, the Italian Prime who was once Catalina’s teenage crush. Dangerous and unpredictable, Alessandro’s true motives are unclear, but he’s drawn to Catalina like a moth to a flame.

To help her friend, Catalina must test the limits of her extraordinary powers, but doing so may cost her both her House–and her heart.

Sapphire Flame brings up right back into the drama of the Bayley family.

Catellia has grown a lot in three years. She is more confident, and not hiding in the background. I think I like Catellia more than Nevada. The world I not as black and white for Catellia as it is for Nevada. It means I am never sure what she is going to do. Also, Catellia is incredibly smart and I like the way her mind processes the information.

Catellia romantic interest is the book is Alessandro Sagredo the prime that tester her to prove her prime status in Wildfire. Alessandro is mysterious, there is more than meets the eye regarding him. I look forward to finding out more about the Italian Stallion in the next books.

Regarding the plot of Sapphire Flames, a simple murder is a lot more complicated and dives into the dark underbelly of how magic came to be. The story has action (plenty of) humour (the Bayley bunch are a funny group). Drama (magic, murder and secrets). Romance (Alessandra is a big old flirt).

A lot of things are changing for the Bayley now their 3 years new house protection is up. I am excited to see what happens next.

My rating for Sapphire Flame is 4.8 out of 5.
