Book Review: Hunted (The Iron Druid Chronicles #6) by Kevin Hearne

Hi Cara,

With the ending of Trapped, I know I wanted to start Hunted straight away as Atticus, Granville, and Oberon are being hunted by Artemis and Diana.

For a two-thousand-year-old Druid, Atticus O’Sullivan is a pretty fast runner.
Good thing, because he’s being chased by not one but two goddesses of the hunt—Artemis and Diana—for messing with one of their own.

Dodging their slings and arrows, Atticus, Granuaile, and his wolfhound Oberon are making a mad dash across modern-day Europe to seek help from a friend of the Tuatha Dé Danann. His usual magical option of shifting planes is blocked, so instead of playing hide-and-seek, the game plan is . . . run like hell.
Crashing the pantheon marathon is the Norse god Loki. Killing Atticus is the only loose end he needs to tie up before unleashing Ragnarok—AKA the Apocalypse. Atticus and Granuaile have to outfox the Olympians and contain the god of mischief if they want to go on living—and still have a world to live in.

Hunted is a book on the run. It’s faced-paced, funny, emotional and exciting.

I am listening to all of the Iron Druid Chronicles as audiobooks, which hasn’t been an issue until one moment in Hunted. It’s Oberon’s reaction to an incident that caused me to nearly start crying in the office. I had to explain to my boss why tears were in my eyes. Seriously Kevin you nearly broke me!

As Atticus, Granuaile, and Oberon are on the run, I enjoyed that the book has a different feel to it. It’s interesting them running across Europe and the way they did it without using any modern means.
Hunted also introduces more Gods from different pantheons. Its funny seeing Gods in a none Disney version. I wonder if in the Iron Druid Chronicles series if there Disney Gods Pantheons. I am intrigued by the different pantheons working together, and what some of them are up too.

One of my favourite elements is seeing similar Gods from different Pantheon and how they mix with each other. Actually how any of the Gods mix with each other. They want to be the biggest most powerful badass.

Again Hunted is full of some great quotes, below are some of my favourites;

“Side effects from doggie joy may include face lube and leg humping.”

“Cry hamhock and lets slip the hogs of war!

“Hey Atticus, do me a quick favour before we go? It’s easy.
Sure what is it?
Hold Granuaile staff for just a minute. You know, rest it on the ground so that its like a walking stick or something and top it near your right cheek.
Granuaile and I traded weapons to humour him and I stood as instructed.
That’s perfect! Now say this like Sir Ian McKellen I am Atticus the white, and I come back to you now at the turn of the tide.”

Another thing I enjoy from the book is the pop culture references and insults.

My rating for Hunted is 5 out of 5.
