Moon Chosen by P.C Cast

0

I received this book from my November Nerdy bookworm box. I am glad it was chosen as I really enjoy the fantasy genre and I wouldn’t of found this book on my own.

The book is based around three different group of people living in a world where the main civilization and technology has failed. The main stories follow one person from the group that is different from the normal. Mair from the Earth Walkers who is not a full Earth walker and having to learn to accept herself and help her people. Nik from the Tree tribe hasn’t been chosen by his companion and is wanting to make changes in the tribe to make it more inclusive. The last is Dead Eyes from the Skin Stealers who has realised that the old ways are not working and decides to take over to improve the life of the Skin Stealers.

It took me a little bit to get me to get into the book as there is so much information regarding the different groups. Also how they are all end up being connected, but once I understood the world better I started to really enjoy the story and was surprised in the direction it went. The book has been left in away where I am happy with it ending but looking forward to want happens next.

Yesterday’s Thief by Al Macy

1

I won this book from Library things for an honest and fair review.

Yesterday’s Thief revolves around P.I Dr. Eric Beckman, who has a doctorate in neurobiology and also happens to be able to read minds. Only one person knows his secret his college friend and neurosurgeon and use his friends skill to help find out things about coma patients. Eric is called in to consult when I women materialised in the middle of a baseball field in the middle of a game. This starts the journey into time travel, jewelery thief, and a world where there is a shortish of electrify.

The concept of the book was really interesting, and the story was very fast passed the only problem that the story is  so jam pack that i found it a little difficult to keep up and not get to confused with the different threads of the story. I am interested to see what happens next with Eric and his friends as Al Macy has created so many interesting character in this book.

Paper and Fire by Rachel Caine

1

Book 2 in the great library series and this book is none stop. The book starts 6 months after Ink and Bone, Jess is near the end of his training for the High Guard and he has been looking for information about Thomas death. This leads the group on the road to break their ties with the Library and do what is right and realise how dark the Library is. The group learns where their loyalties lie and that family isn’t always blood.

I enjoyed this book more than the first, there was so much action and drama in the book that kept me hooked from beginning to end. I am in awe of Rachel Caine and her ability to create such a rich world that is so different but has elements that are ground in reality.

Now I have to wait till July 2017 to see what happens next in Ash and Quill.

Ink and Bone by Rachel Caine

0

Ink and Bone is the first book in the Great Library series by Rachel Caine. The premise that the Great Library of Alexandra survived and now hold the world knowledge and it the most powerful forces. All the original books of are held by the Library and it is against the law to own a original with punishment of death. The book follows Jess as he try to join the ranks of Library part because of his love of books and knowledge. The other part is to get hold of rare books that he can he can give to his smuggler family. As Jess deals with every test the Library throws at him he comes to realise that the Library isn’t as good as it seems.

I found the book difficult to get into at first as it was slow as it builds this new world. When I got half way in the book and then I couldn’t put the book down as this is when the action started, and we start to find out that the world isn’t as good as made to believe. The world that Rachel Caine has created is very interesting, there is no technology but alchemy and the world hasn’t evolved and still in the style of the Elizabethan area.

I don’t think i could live in a world that I couldn’t have my own copy of books, as my books have opened myself to new and wonderful world and people.

Huntress Found by A.A Chamberlynn

0

I won a copy of Huntress Found on Library Things for an honest and fair review.

The book is based around Evryn who has the ability to find things that are lost. She was abounded as a child so never knew why and how she had this ability. Till one day when a gentleman seeker pops into her world and informs her that she is the last descendant of Artemis.  She is asked to join a hunt to find the Artifex which is an artifact a magic device which would give its use a lot of power.

The premise is very interesting with Evryn being the last descendant of Artemis and her ability is the strongest among the hunters because of that. I really enjoyed the different worlds that were created and look forward to reading about other world that A.A Chamberlynn has created. I hope in the next book we see more regarding the relationships between the characters as they felt at little rushed in this book.

Now I’m off to brush up on my greek mythology.

Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah.J. Maas

0

This is book two in the Court of Thorne and Roses series and Sarah. J. Maas is very good at changing my opinion of characters from book to book.  The book is set three months after Feyre death and rebirth as a high fae. She is not dealing very well with what she had to do to free Tamlin and the fae from the curse, but Tamlin is ignoring the signs and doing what he must to keep her safe, when this is making the situation worse.

To save Feyre Rhysand calls in the bargain where she is with him a week a month, this week away allows Feyre to heal and rebuild herself so that she can fight and play her part in the upcoming war.

The relationship between Feyre and Rhysand is such a fun one to read, their friendship and batter help lighten the darkness that is happening. There relationship shows the weaknesses in Feyre and Tamlin relationship. The book to me show that don’t take things on face appearances or prior notions as good isn’t always light and dark isnt always evil.

Now I have to wait till next year to find out what Feyre is going to do next.

Court of Thorns and Roses By Sarah. J. Mass

0

After finishing Sarah J Maas Thorne of Glass series I decided to read her other series A Court of Thorne and Roses as I enjoyed Sarah writing style. This series didn’t disappoint, it more of a love story then Throne of Glass although they is still evil to face..

The world that this series is based in is split into two, the world of the mortals and the world of the Fae. The mortals were once slaves to the Fae until the mortals fought back and a treaty was signed that gave them their freedom. Feyre is a mortal women hunting in the wood in winter trying to find food for father and two sisters who have been struck on hard times. Feyre kills an animal in the woods this act causes her to have to give up her life and move to the world of the Fae to atone. While she is in Fae she finds out that everything is at it seems as she might be the only one that can save them.

The author has again give us a great strong female character in Feyre, even though it sent in a completely different world to my own there is aspect of Feyre personality that I can relate too.Which made warm to her and her sturggle regarding leaving the people she loves.

I have the second book A Court of Mist of Fury ready and waiting to start as I can’t wait to see how Feyre and Tamlin are coping after the end of A Court of Thorn and Roses.

I also really appreciated the pronunciation guide at the back of the book, as being dyslexic I always worry about if I am saying the name right so that helped a lot.
