Book Review: Leverage in Death (In Death #47) by J.D Robb

Hi Cara,

The In Death Series is a staple in my reading life, I was very happy to get my hands on Leverage in Death.

What would you do to save your wife and child?

Lieutenant Eve Dallas find out in her next case, when a man goes to his place of work and in a meeting sets off a bomb. It Eve job to find out why someone would want to stop the merger between a luxury and budget airline.

The bombing isn’t going to stop the merger, just case panic and heartache for the families affected. Eve ropes in her billionaire husband and business man extraordinaire to help her navigate the tricky world of business. Now Eve has to untangle the evidence, witness statement and motives to find out if this a simple act of terror, sabotage or something more twisted and complex.

Leverage in Death is another great addition to the In Death series. The story is a great mixture of investigation and Eve and Roarke private lives.

The case is interesting, compelling and does make you question what would you willing to do to save your family. I always like that it’s not obvious who the criminal are in the case. It makes me feel smarter as I am figuring it out as  the same time as Eve.

One of my favourite theme in the series is Eve battle with the candy thief. For people who do not know the series Eve hides candy aka chocolate in her office, every time she goes to eat it, its missing. He/she strikes again, giving me one of my favourite moment in the book.

“Not only had the nefarious Candy Thief snatched her chocolate, he/she had taken the time and trouble to replace it with the actual item not the freaking menu.

She had to respect that.

When she caught the son of a bitching bastard – and she would, oh, she would – she’d hang the thief out her window by the heels. Naked.

But she’d do so with respect.”

At the present moment the identity of the Candy Thief is unknown, hopefully we find out the soon. It doesn’t matter how hard a think about it, I still have no idea who it could be.

My rating for Leverage in Death  is 5 out of 5
