Book Review: Charmcaster (Spellslinger #3) by Sebastien De Castell

Hi Saaxiib,

It time for book 3 Charmcaster in my Sebastien De Castell Spellslinger Book Binge.

Charmcaster takes place several months after ShadowBlack.

Kellen Ferius and Reichis have gone though different countries removing the obsidian worms from unexpected victims. But they are still running from all the enemies that they seem to be collecting. They are varying up the people who are after them by mixing in some religious mercenaries with the normal mage mercenaries. When they come upon information that shows them something that can change the world for the worse. Kellen, Ferius, Reaches and a Charmcaster and her familiar mist find away to keep the peace and not get killed.

Ferius knows that they must keep with the Argosi tradition to keep peace, but she worries that this path well cause Kellen to caught Danger and disaster.

Charmcaster introduces us to more of the different type of people in Kellen world. This hooks your more into this world.

I found all the different type of people in Kellen world. I found all the different type of people fascinating and could spend hours talking and debating the different types, especially the Berabesq faithful.

Kellen family (we’ll certain family members) make an appearance in Charmcaster, it show how talented a writer Sebastien is that my feeling towards them were not easily forgotten when I put the book down. I am still brewing over the treatment of Kellen by his family.

After three books with Reiches I feel like he deserves his own self-help page or build you confidence work shop. I wonder how many problems he can solve by telling people to eat other people’s eyes. Hahaha.

Charmcaster again has some amazing lines and moments in it, more than several made me laugh out loud.

Reiches win again with the best quote but I thought I would share my favourite quote for Reiches, Kellen and Ferius.

One of my Favourite Kellen Inner quotes.

“Somehow, without any agreement on my part, I had become the bagman for a squirrel cat and a Hyena.”

This moment is at the top of my favourite Reiches moments,

“”What are you doing?” I asked irritably when the squirrel cat started patting my head with his paw.

“I’m … comforting you,’ he replied. “Isn’t this what humans do to reassure each other?” His batting of my head intensified.

“Is this better?”

One of my favourite Ferius quote, I had another one but it was to much of a spoiler.

“Kid, I was painting ArgosiI Cards blind by the tine I was eleven years old.’ She dipped her brush into one of her little glass jars. “It’s Easier, actually.

Charmcaster is full of action, drama, laughs and even moment that will make you want to shed a tear. I have loved every moment as I learned more about the character and this world.

My rating for this book is 5 out of 5
