Book review: Sharpest Sting (Elemntal Assassin #18) by Jennifer Estep

Hi Cara,

Today review beings me back to one of my favourites urban fantasy series, the Elemental Assassin series by Jennifer Estep. Book 18 in the series is called Sharpest Sting.

The truth won’t set me free—but it will probably get me killed …

As Gin Blanco, aka the assassin the Spider, I’m used to having a target on my back. But ever since I started investigating the secret society known as the Circle, that target seems bigger than ever.

Still, I’m trying to relax and enjoy the events leading up to my friends’ wedding when I learn that an old enemy has returned to Ashland. And that’s the just beginning of my latest nightmare. Soon, I have Circle goons watching my every move, but I have no choice but to continue searching for a key piece of evidence against the evil group.

The deeper I dig, the more horrifying secrets I uncover, and the more dangerous things become for me and my friends. Just when I think I finally have a handle on things, a shocking revelation shatters my heart and leaves me with an ugly realization—that betrayal is the sharpest sting of all …

(Synopsis from Goodreads.com)

Sharpest Sting brings us straight back into Gin drama with the Circle. The drama continues with more and revelations throughout the story.

Gin and her family and friends are up against the most dangerous person. This person is a brilliant villain, he has all the qualities you want in a bad guy. Also, the power at his fingertips with his control over his gift makes him someone that Gen can’t beat in a power-off as she has had previously.

One of my favourite element in the Elemental Assassin series is the people that Gin surrounds herself with. I felt that in the Sharpest Sting she is starting to let people help her more, but not too much as she still to protect them.

Also, I enjoyed finding out more about Flecther and Gin Family, and how they are more connected then originally thought.

The pact of Sharpest Ting is fast with its scavenger hunt esp plot, and the tight time frame. A lot happened in a short span of time, I didn’t want to stop listening.

Favourites elements of Sharpest Sting;

  • The romance between Gin and Owen (unique date night.)
  • The fight scenes
  • Scaverage hunt for the ledger.
  • Flirting between characters.
  • Revelations

My least favourite element of Sharpest Sting;

  • Gins lack of thinking in certain situation.

My rating for Sharpest Sting is 4.5 out of 5
