Book Review: The Invisible life of Addie LaRue by V.E Schwab

Hi Cara,

Today I am reviewing The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V.E Schwab.

A Life No One Will Remember. A Story You Will Never Forget.

France, 1714: in a moment of desperation, a young woman makes a Faustian bargain to live forever and is cursed to be forgotten by everyone she meets.

Thus begins the extraordinary life of Addie LaRue, and a dazzling adventure that will play out across centuries and continents, across history and art, as a young woman learns how far she will go to leave her mark on the world.

But everything changes when, after nearly 300 years, Addie stumbles across a young man in a hidden bookstore and he remembers her name.

The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue is a beautifully written story full of emotion.

As the book splits between the past and the present life of Addie life. It builds the character and world in an interesting way. The book is a slow burn of a story that gets its hooks into you. It also plays with your emotions. Towards the end, I felt melancholy as the ending became clearer.

V.E Schwab is very clever in the way in which she has structured the story and how it all connects together.

The character of Addie LaRue is an interesting and complex character that I enjoyed. I love her strength and everything she has been through she hasn’t been broken. Also, she finds happiness in new things even after 300 years.

Overall The Invisible life of Addie LaRue is a lovely story. It a must-read for anyone that enjoys historical books that deal with fantasy, romance with LGBTQ+ characters.

My Rating for The Invisible Life of Addie La Rue is 4.5 out of 5.
