Book Review: Six of Crows (Six of Crows #1) by Leigh Bardugo

Hi Cara,

Today on my blog I am reviewing Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo. This is the first book in the Six of Crows duology. But it takes place in the Grisha universe.

Synopsis

Criminal prodigy Kaz Brekker is offered a chance at a deadly heist: break into the Ice Court - a military stronghold that has never been breached - and retrieve a hostage whose knowledge could change Grisha magic forever. To succeed would mean rich beyond his wildest dreams - but he can't pull it off alone . . .

A convict with a thirst for revenge.
A sharpshooter who can't walk away from a wager.
A runaway with a privileged past.
A spy known as the Wraith.
A Heartrender using her magic to survive the slums.
A thief with a gift for unlikely escapes.

Six dangerous outcasts. One impossible heist. Together they might just be unstoppable - if they don't kill each other first.

Opinion

Six of Crows is a fun and entertaining heist story, where the group of thieves don't really trust each other.

The book is mainly told from 5 out of 6 crows point of view.

  • Kaz Brekker - Leader and lock pick expert.
  • Jesper Fahey - gambling and sharpshooter
  • Nina Zerik - Grisha with the ability to stop your heart
  • Matthia Helavr - Fjerdan Witchhunter
  • Inej Ghafa - Gymnast, thief, spy, assisan

Wylan Van pov is not seen in Six of crows which is a shame as I like Wylan and how his brain works. I always like the characters that are good at blowing stuff up.

I liked all the character and enjoyed seeing their POV as it kept the book interesting and kept it at a decent pace. Out of all the POV, I enjoyed Inej and Nina more. I think it because I liked them more. Especially as the Heist wouldn't have gone ahead.

4 out of 5
