Book Review: Secrets of the Swords 3 (Death before Dragons #9) by Lindsay Buroker

Hi Cara,

Today on my blog I am reviewing the final book in Death before Dragons series. Secrets of the Sword 3. The previous books in Lindsay Buroker series are;

  1. Sinister Magic
  2. Battle Bond
  3. Tangled Truths
  4. Elven Doom
  5. False Security
  6. Storm Forged
  7. Secrets of the Sword 1
  8. Secrets of the Sword 2

Synopsis

I’m Val Thorvald, tough butt-kicking assassin and soon-to-be wife of Lord Zavryd'nokquetal. He’s a dragon from another world, and he’s haughty, arrogant, and has horrible taste in footwear, but I love him. Our wedding is going to be amazing.

At least… I’d like to think so. But when the coffee shop I’m a co-owner of gets bombed, our youngest employee goes missing, and the entire elven family I didn’t know I had shows up for a visit, my wedding preparations take an alarming turn.

Oh, and did I mention that Zav’s clan is coming to the wedding? Dozens of dragons flying into the Seattle area. What could possibly go wrong?

Opinion

Secrets of the Swords 3 brings the Death before Dragons series to a great ending.

In Secrets of the Sword 3 their several callbacks to earlier books which is fun to read. Also seeing those characters and how they act now around Val is entertaining as they use to hate/ fear her. Although not all magical beings opinions have changed.

One of my favourite aspects is Val trying to deal with her family and wedding drama. As at the same time she is trying to find the person(s) who bombed the coffee shop.

The narrator Vivienne Leheny has done an amazing job narrating the book as well as the whole series. I will look out for other books she has narrated.

Overall I enjoyed the mystery, the action, humour and romance. The Wedding was a great way to end the series.

My rating for Secrets of the Swords 3 is 4.5 out of 5.
