Book Review: Once Upon a Broken Heart (Once Upon a Broken Heart #1) by Stephanie Garber

Hi Cara,

Today I am reviewing the highly anticipated Once Upon a Broken Heart by Stephanie Garber. This is the first book in a new series based in the same world as Caraval.

Once Upon a Broken Heart comes out 30th of September 2021.

Synopsis

From Stephanie Garber, the #1 New York Times bestselling author of Caraval, Once Upon a Broken Heart is the first book in a new series about love, curses, and the lengths that people will go to for happily ever after.

When Evangeline Fox learns that the love of her life is about to marry another, she feels her heart begin to break in two. Desperate and distraught, she offers the charismatic but wicked Prince of Hearts whatever he wishes in exchange for his help to stop the wedding. His request: three kisses. At first, it seems simple enough, but Evangeline quickly learns that bargaining with a Fate is a dangerous game, and it could cost her far more than she intended. For the prince has plans for Evangeline, plans that will either end in the greatest happily ever after, or in the most exquisite tragedy...

Opinion

Once Upon a Broken Heart is a magical read that I read one night.

Jacks was a character I enjoyed in the Caraval series, so I was happy to see him up to mischief and mayhem in Once a Broken Heart. Although I wouldn't make a deal Jacks.

The leading lady in Once a Broken Heart is Evangeline Fox a character who I have hair envy over. I love that she has hope and believes in fairytales. That even when she makes mistakes she trys to do the right things to make up for them.

There are moments in Once a Broken Heart that gave me Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty feels. With the evil Stepmother and the fates magic.

Overall I loved the story and the way it ended. I am looking forward to seeing what happens next.

My rating for Once Upon a Broken Heart is 4.8 out of 5.
