Book Review: The Kingdom of Copper (The Daevabad Trilogy #2) by S.A Chakraborty

Hello Sadiq,

Todays review is the second book in the Daevabad trilogy The Kingdom of Copper by S.A Chakraborty.

I feel in love with the first book in the series The City of Brass last year and I couldn’t wait to return to Daevabad in The Kingdom of Copper.

Daevabad is still dealing with the dark aftermath of the battle that saw Dara killed at Prince Ali’s hand.

Nahri must find a new path for herself, without the protection of the Dara  who stole her heart or the Ali of the prince she considered a friend. She embraces her heritage and the power it holds, she is trapped in a gilded cage, under constant watch by a king who rules from the throne that once belonged to her family and one misstep will doom her tribe.

Meanwhile, Ali has been exiled for daring to defy his father. Hunted by assassins, lost in the sands of his ancestral land, Ali is forced to rely on the frightening abilities the marid gave him after possessing him;. He now has the ability with water. This ability if found out will threaten his family and a secret they tried to keep buried.

As a new century approaches, the dijnn gather in Daevabad for a month of celebrations. I perfect time to force a change in Daevabad for better or worse.

The Kingdom of Copper is a magical reading experiences.

I felt like I couldn’t read this book quickly enough, teacher chapter as additive as the last. Moments left my mouth agape, my heart beating wildly in my chest. If I was watching a movie I would be at the edge of my seat, chucking popcorn into my mouth.

The world that S. A Chakraborty has created is incredible rich, colourful and dangerous. I love even in a magical world issues about race and religion are being tackled. As well as what people are willing to doe for the good of their people at the expense of others.

All the Character that S.A Chakraborty has created deep so real even with their magical abilities. They all have flaws that make them good who make mistakes. Or bad who can do good. (Ok maybe 1 or 2 of the character are just plain evil.)

The writing style is stunning, and the pace never leaves you board. There is something always going on, ever fighting, scheming, romance.

The Kingdom of Copper is a must read for any fantasy lover.

My rating for The Kingdom of Copper is 5 out of 5.
