Book: The Court of Miracles
Author: Kester Grant

Gem’s Thoughts:. The premise intrigued me, the groups, the history and the rule-breaking. I was lucky enough to get an E-ARC of The Court of Miracles, I gave it 4.8 out of 5. My review can be found HERE.

Book: The Damned
Author: Renée Ahdieh

Gem’s Thoughts:. This is the second book in The Beautiful series. I enjoyed The Beautiful the way in which the book ended makes me nervous and excited to see what happens to Sebastien and Celine.

Gem’s Thoughts:. I have loved the Daevabad trilogy, and I am sad to see this series end. I was lucky enough that my NetGalley wish was granted and I got an E-ARC. I gave it 5 out of 5. My review can be found HERE.
Book: Stormblood
Author: Jeremy Szal
Synopsis: Vakov Fukasawa used to be a Reaper, a biosoldier fighting for the intergalactic governing body of Harmony against a brutal invading empire. Gem’s Thoughts: Stormblood is the first book in The Common series. What pulls me to this book is the biosoldier with alien DNA, mixed with a mystery, murder and war.

Book: The Order of Pure Reflected in Water
Author: Zen Cho

Gem’s Thoughts:. The description of fantasy mixed with old martial art, pique my interest. But what made me really want to read it is the line ‘A bandit walks into a coffeehouse, and it all goes downhill from there”.
Book: A Declaration of the Rights of Magicians
Author: H.G Parry
Synopsis: A sweeping tale of revolution and wonder in a world not quite like our own, A Declaration of the Rights of Magicians is a genre-defying story of magic, war, and the struggle for freedom in the early modern world.
It is the Age of Enlightenment — of new and magical political movements, from the necromancer Robespierre calling for revolution in France to the weather mage Toussaint L’Ouverture leading the slaves of Haiti in their fight for freedom, to the bold new Prime Minister William Pitt weighing the legalization of magic amongst commoners in Britain and abolition throughout its colonies overseas.
But amidst all of the upheaval of the early modern world, there is an unknown force inciting all of human civilization into violent conflict. And it will require the combined efforts of revolutionaries, magicians, and abolitionists to unmask this hidden enemy before the whole world falls to darkness and chaos.
Gem’s Thoughts:. It’s a dark historical fantasy. I love the idea of a political movement based on the freedom to perform magic.
