Hi Cara,
Today review is regarding the second book in the Elicia Hyder The Soul Summoner series, Book two is called The Siren.
All the missing victims of North Carolina’s deadliest serial killer have been found, all except Rachel Smith.
When the FBI produces a photo proving Rachel is alive and well in Texas, one case is closed but another one is opened. Either this is a case of mistaken identity or there are more people than just Sloan Jordan and Warren Parish who seem to walk the earth without a soul.
Along with Detective Nathan McNamara, Sloan and Warren travel south to find Rachel and solve the biggest mystery of all: determining who—or what—they really are.

The Siren finally answers questions raised in The Soul Summoner but left me with others.
I liked the character of Sloan but there were a couple of occasions towards the end half of the book that I found her whiny. But overall I find her funny, caring and smart.
The Siren is more emotional in places than The Soul Summoner. I was surprised by one emotional element of the story. When looking back at the story I am not surprised. As it used to bring another character to the story.
I wasn’t surprised by the twist but that might be me reading the synopsis of all the other books in the series. Although if you hadn’t, Elicia drops breadcrumb hints that later on will make you go ooh.
Regarding the two-man in Sloan life, both are great characters with flaws. I like that Nathan and Warren have a friendship. It’s not this macho show of trying to outdo each other for Solan affection. At the moment there is a love triangle going on. I am hoping in the next book or so deals with this and puts the love triangle to an end. Solan has enough drama in her life that she doesn’t need in her love life.
I am looking forward to finding out what is to come for Sloan. Especially with the reveal at the end of the book, and the introduction of the supernatural world.
Again Brittany Pressley has done a stellar job of performing The Siren.
My Rating for The Siren is 4.3 out of 5.
