Book Review: Archangel’s Sun (Guild Hunter #13) by Nalini Singh

Hi Cara,

Today I am revisiting the world of the Guild Hunter. This time the focus is not on Raphael and Elena, but Titus and the Hummingbird.

A horrifying secret rises in the aftermath of an archangelic war in New York Times bestselling author Nalini Singh’s deadly and beautiful Guild Hunter world…

The Archangel of Death and the Archangel of Disease may be gone but their legacy of evil lives on—especially in Africa, where the shambling, rotting creatures called the reborn have gained a glimmer of vicious intelligence.

It is up to Titus, archangel of this vast continent, to stop the reborn from spreading across the world. Titus can’t do it alone, but of the surviving powerful angels and archangels, large numbers are wounded, while the rest are fighting a surge of murderous vampires.

There is no one left…but the Hummingbird. Old, powerful, her mind long a broken kaleidoscope. Now, she must stand at Titus’s side against a tide of death upon a discovery more chilling than any other. For the Archangel of Disease has left them one last terrible gift…

Archangel’s Sun is a magical book where location and people are rebuilding themselves after trauma.

The Hummingbird Sharine has been a character that I wanted to learn more about. As Illium mum I have loved how much she loves Illium, Raphael and Aodhan.  But I loved her more in Archangel’s Sun as she has found her inner strength.  I loved how sharp her tongue is considering how the angel world sees her as soft and light. I liked that she shows you can be sharp and soft.

My favourite moments in Archangel’s Sun are between Sharine and Titus. They don’t pull any punches with each other. Allowing them to share their history and truth from each other.

Nalini has created a great twist with the Reborns, as the infection created by Lijuan and Charisemnon takes a Zombie feel to the infection, and the fighting Titus has to do against them.

Archangel’s sun is more about the people than the plot. I loved getting to know more about Titus and Sharine and even Charisemnon. Also seeing how the Archanges rule their territories. And how they influence how their people view other Archangels.

When I read this book I get that warm comfortable feeling, that you get from knowing you are reading a good book. That hits all the things I love in a book. It has romance, mystery, action, humour, strong character and snark.

My Rating for Archangel’s Sun is 5 out of 5.
