Hi Cara,
Today I am reviewing Crooked Kingdom, the second book in Leigh Bardugo Six of Crows Series.
Welcome to the world of the Grisha.
Kaz Brekker and his crew of deadly outcasts have just pulled off a heist so daring even they didn't think they'd survive. But instead of divvying up a fat reward, they're right back to fighting for their lives.
Double-crossed and badly weakened, the crew is low on resources, allies, and hope. As powerful forces from around the world descend on Ketterdam to root out the secrets of the dangerous drug known as jurda parem, old rivals and new enemies emerge to challenge Kaz's cunning and test the team's fragile loyalties.
A war will be waged on the city's dark and twisting streets - a battle for revenge and redemption that will decide the fate of the Grisha world.
(Synopsis from Goodreads.com)
Crooked Kingdom is an adventure in book form. A lot happens in Crooked Kingdom which will mean the characters will never be the same again.
I enjoyed that there are so many cons/jobs. It kept the book interesting and kept the pace fast. It has great twists and turns, some things I wasn't surprised by. But some I was. Especially the ones that link back to earlier on in the book.
This might be controversial but I am not a fan of Kaz. I understand his past has caused him to be this way. For me, he is a character that I am not bothered about if they do or don't get their happy ending.
My favourite character ended up being Wylan, I enjoyed seeing more of his POV and how his brain works. It nice to see a dyslexic character in a book, who is really smart.
Crooked Kingdom has some cameo from characters from the Shadow and Bone series which was a nice surprise.
My rating for Crooked Kingdom is 4 out of 5.
