Hi Higala,
I decided to go for something a little different with this book choice as We Sold our Soul by Grady Hendrix, this book is advertised as a Supernatural Horror. I was intrigued by the premise so I thought I would give it a go.
Kris Pulaski was the female guitarist in a 1990’s heavy metal band called Dürt Würk, on the brink of making it big, when the lead singer in the band Terry Hunt decided to leave and becomes the solo artist Koffin.
20 years later Kris is the night manager at Best Western, while Terry is one of the biggest stars in heavy metal. Kris is broke, tired and unhappy, but when she looks back on the day Terry left the band she realises that something is not right. When she start digging into the past she find out the secret to Terry success may have come at the cost of her very soul .
Kris hits the road, she wants to speak to her old band mate and confront Terry and ask why he ruined her life. This road trip is like no other road trip before with, Satanic rehab centres, dangerous UPS men, Hell festival, and soulless fans.
We Sold our Souls is a fast paced, action packed and easy to read book. It took me a couple of chapters to get into the book, but once Kris was on the road and I was right there with her for the journey.
I am not a big fan of heavy metal rock, (my rock levels is the Supernatural sound track.) so I feel that if someone is a heavy metal rock fan they will get more enjoyment out of the book, with the music references, and the song lyrics.
The book left me want more, we do get to find out a little with a chapter based 3 years in the future, but I still wanted to know more about Kris and Melanie life after Hellstock.
If you want a Horror book that leave you with a creepy feeling, and questioning every document you have ever signed, than pick up We Sold our Souls.
I give this book 3.5 out of 5
Thank you Quirk Books for sending me a copy of the book for a fair and honest review.
