As we start the year, I thought it would be a good time to look back on my 2018 reading life.
In 2018 I have found some new author to add to my must read all of their books list. Some I found through Book Subscription Boxes (Fairyloot, Illumicrate, Book Box Club, Goldboro) some though social media and other through publishers.
Holly Black
The Fae Queen of literacy. I loved The Cruel Prince and I wanted to read her back catalogue. Her next book out is The Wicked King which is out 08-Jan-19. I am waiting on tenterhooks to read it.
S.A. Chakraborty
She is the twitter story-teller. If you don’t already follow S.A Chakraborty on twitter you really should. She tells stories from 1001 Nights and it is AMAZING!. This is what twitter was created for. I fell in love the world she created in City of Brass. The Second Book Kingdom of Copper is out 08-Jan-19 and I have treated myself to the Goldboro special edition copy. I have waited a year to find out what happens next.
Helen Sarah Field
I found this series with the third book Perfect Death. I was hooked on this French Police officer in Scotland with it interesting and different crimes. The next book in this series is Perfect Crime which is out April. I can’t wait to see what type of killer is lose in Scotland. I’m hoping before Perfect Crime comes out that I have chance to read the first two books in the series Perfect Remains and Perfect Prey.
Tomi Adeyemi
Children of Blood and Bone captured my imagination and heart last year. Children of Virtue and Vengeance comes out in march and I don’t know if I can last that long. FYI Follow Tomi on Twitter her video are so entertaining.
A.C Gaughen
She changed what Elemental power I wanted with her book Reign the Earth. I have always been drawn to Fire but now I would like Earth if I had the choice of elemental powers. Her next book in the series is Imprison the Sky and I think I may end up change which Elemental powers after reading it.
Vic James
Before YALC I binged all three books in the Dark Gifts series. She gave me one of my favourite morally Grey characters in Silyen. I’m looking forward to what she brings out next.
Tamora Pierce
I wax introduced to Tamora Pierce by her book Tempest and Slaughter. I love Arram, Tempest and slaughter show how he becomes all-powerful Mages seen in the Tortall Universe. The next book in the series The Exile Gift has no publication date at the moment, I will be diving into the other books so I don’t spend to long away from this wonderful world.
John Gwynne
John Gwynne is similar to Tamora Pierce as both of them has previous books based in the same world. I jumped into the world with A time of Dread, I’m lucky enough to get my hands on an advance copy of the second book A Time of Blood. The only downside of getting an advance copy is longer wait until the next book, so I will have to jump in a read The Faith and Fallen series.
Sebastien de Castell
He has given me not of my favourite character is Reichs. I love the mixture of magic and the old west in this series. Next book in the series is Charmcaster and its out in May. I can’t wait to see what trouble Kellen and Reichs get up next. Sebastien has another series called Greatcoats which sounds amazing. It’s already on my to buy Wish list.
Laura Sebastian
Laura had me crying within the first 40 pages of Ash Princes. She know how to pull on the heart-strings. The Next book in the series is Lady Smoke and I have the tissues at the ready.
