Hi Cara,
I am trying to read books of series that I have already started. So I decided to revisit the world of Cassandra ‘Cassie’ Palmer, the chief seer of the supernatural world. Brave the Tempest is book 9 in the series written by Karen Chance.
Cassie Palmer has been chief seer of the supernatural world for a little over four months.
In that time, she’s battled two gods, fallen in love with two men, and confronted the two sides of her own nature, both god and human. So it’s not surprising that she currently finds herself facing two adversaries, although they have a single purpose: to wipe out the supernatural community’s newest fighting force, leaving it vulnerable to enemies in this world and beyond.
To prevent catastrophe, the vamps, mages, and demons will have to do the one thing they’ve never managed before and come together as allies. Cassie has the difficult task of keeping the uneasy coalition intact, and of persuading her own two opposing forces, a powerful mage with a secret and a master vampire with a growing obsession, to fight at her side. She just hopes they can do it without tearing each other apart.

Brave the Tempest is a hold on to your pants fast-paced action-packed story.
One of the things I love about Brave the Tempest is there is never a dull moment. Cassie is having to deal with problems after problems and still deal with the supernatural world underestimating her due to her being human. I really like it when she surprises them, especially the vampire.
Another element I loved is we get some Cassie and Pritkin time. After everything they have been through it nice that they get some steamy moments.
Brace the Tempest deals with one of the things that have been after Cassie. It was a great way for the plotline to end. My only issue is so much goes on in the final battle that I am sure I may have missed something.
One of my favourite moments is when Cassie interrupts a war meeting that Mircea is holding.
“Sorry I’m late,” I said, shoving the chair towards the table. It was an ornate thing of gilded wood that made a loud screech, scratch, squawk on the pretty new mosaic. But I finally get it wedged into a too-small spot between a guy in a burnoose and a woman in a business suit. ” I don’t have a secretary yet,” I said, climbing over burnoose guy. “And my bodyguards are terrible about reminding me of appointment. What were we talking about?’
My Favourite elements of Brave the Tempest;
- Romance / Steamy moments
- Intense Action
- Great use of Time as a power
- Cassie court and the group she has brought together
- The humour
My Rating for Brave the Tempest is 4.8 out of 5.
