Hi Cara,
The review on my blog today is Grace Destiny by Kalayna Price. Grave Destiny is the sixth book in the Alex Craft series that follows Alex a Grave witch and her dealing with the Fae Courts and supernatural beings.
Grave witch Alex Craft can speak to the dead, and that makes her a dangerous enemy for anyone with something to hide. . . .
Alex is still trying to come to terms with her changing powers and her growing ties to Faerie when a case she’d rather avoid falls right into her lap. A fae prince desperately needs Alex to investigate a politically sensitive murder. She reluctantly agrees to the case, taking FIB agent Falin Andrews along as her backup.
But as Alex begins to delve into the mystery, she realizes that the intricate web of alliances and intrigue in the Faerie courts is strained to its limits. War is about to break out, one that threatens to spill over into the mortal realm. This murder is tied right to the center of centuries-old arcane unrest, and if Alex isn’t careful she may follow the twisting path ahead of her right into her grave end.
(Synopsis from Goodreads.com)
Grave Destiny is a great urban fantasy that has Romance, mystery, murder and interesting use of magic.
This book brings Alex more into the Fae world. I enjoyed seeing the other courts, and the similarities/differences between them and the Winter Court. Although I think I would safer is I never visited any of the courts as they are dangerous.
Grave Destiny start of great as there is no lag you are straight into the story, and wondering why the Prince of Shadows needs Alex help. I especially love Failn reaction to finding the Prince of Shadow in the Tongues for the Dead office.
Several things happen in Grave Destiny that will be interesting to see the impact in the books to come. I like reading those moments when you go, Oh Alex what have you got yourself into.
Grave Destiny is addictive, the more I read the more I didn’t want to put the book down. Especially in the last 10%, as there were several OMG moments
My Favourite aspects of Grave Destiny;
- Humour
- Alex planeweaver powers
- The mystery and its investigations
- Moments between Alex and Falin
- Falin dealing with the Prince of Shadows.
My rating for Grave Destiny is 4.8 out of 5.
