Hi Cara,
Today on my blog I am reviewing a contemporary fantasy adult fiction, The Midnight Library by Matt Haig.
‘Between life and death there is a library, and within that library, the shelves go on forever. Every book provides a chance to try another life you could have lived. To see how things would be if you had made other choices… Would you have done anything different, if you had the chance to undo your regrets?’
A dazzling novel about all the choices that go into a life well lived, from the internationally bestselling author of Reasons to Stay Alive and How To Stop Time.
Somewhere out beyond the edge of the universe there is a library that contains an infinite number of books, each one the story of another reality. One tells the story of your life as it is, along with another book for the other life you could have lived if you had made a different choice at any point in your life. While we all wonder how our lives might have been, what if you had the chance to go to the library and see for yourself? Would any of these other lives truly be better?

As I sit pen to paper trying to figure out how I am going, to sum up, this book and hit it left me feeling. On the surface, I thought the book was just about a magical library but its so much more.Â
The Midnight Library deals with depression, suicide, regret, anxiety. The causes Norta to take drastic actions that take her to The Midnight Library where she visits different version of her life if she had made different choices. What makes this story magical is the way in which Nora works through her different lives and grows emotional. Also, she works through her issues with each new life, as she sees herself in different ways. As not all lives good, they are also bad and mediocre. But they all show her something.Â
All the lives are very different, and they stem for one or more change. It made me think if I did something differently taken different choices, what would my life be like. I am living the best version of any alternative lives.Â
Matt Haig has crafted a beautiful world, a book that I read in one night. I wanted to see the direction Nora took with her life. His words stirred up emotions that have yet to leave me. This is the gift of an amazing storyteller when their story brands its mark on the reader soul.Â
I wish if I am in between life and death that I would get to visit my own Midnight Library.Â
My Rating for The Midnight Library is 5 out of 5
