Hi Cara,
It is time to go visit my Dark Queen Jane Yellowrick in the newest book Shattered Bonds.
Jane Yellowrock is a shapeshifting skinwalker and vampire killer-for-hire, but her last battle with an ancient arcane enemy has brought her low.
She seeks retreat in the Appalachian Mountains to grieve the loss of her friends, and to heal–or to die–from the disease brought on by her magic.
But malevolent elements in the paranormal community still seek to destroy Jane, and the younger Son of Darkness stalks her, even into the safety of the hills. With nowhere to run and her body failing, the rogue-vampire hunter and her inner Beast must discover a way to defeat this new threat, and find a form that gives her a chance to fight another day.
Shattered Bonds is another Amazing addition to the Jane Yellowrock series.
Jane is dying and this gives a whole new spin to the story. As her strength and magic have always given her an edge against her enemies. But now she has to ask for more help. She is more vulnerable. It shows how much her life has changed. Now she is surrounded by people that will do anything to help her. So of the moment between her and her clan caused me to choke up.
I was listening to Shattered Bonds, I love the voice performances, especially with Ej and Angie baby. Ej sounds so cute. Especially with his reaction to Jane in half form.
I enjoyed the balance of drama of Janes health and her problem with the son of Darkness. It was also interesting that we find out more things about how the vampire came to be, what the Angel is up to. Why did Soul not help at the battle, What’s going on in Europe. This book for me felt like it was tieing up loose end to the path Jane been on since book 1. I am excited to see what happens next for the Jane and the Yellowrock clan now this path has ended.
As always I love Beast, I love her approach to solving problems. Although Beast has been keeping secrets. I wonder what else she’s been hiding, Especially about what happened between the trail of tears till when Jane came out of the forest as a child.
My rating for Shattered Bonds is 5 out of 5.
