Synopsis

Jane Yellowrock goes back to the city where it all began in the newest instalment of this thrilling New York Times bestselling series.

Jane used to hunt vampires, but now she’s their queen. She’s holed up in the mountains with the Yellowrock Clan, enjoying a little peace, when a surprise attack on her people proves that trouble is brewing. Someone is using very old magic to launch a bid for power, and it’s all tied to the place where Jane was first drawn into the world of Leo Pellissier—the city of New Orleans.

Jane is compelled to return to NOLA because someone is trying to destabilize the paranormal world order. And because she now sits near the top of the vampire world, the assault is her problem. She will do what she must to protect what’s hers. Her city. Her people. Her power. Her crown.

Opinion

True Dead is jammed packed, fast-paced action urban fantasy book. That answers certain questions but leaves you with others.

One of my favourite aspects of listening to True Dead is hearing Beast. I now have in my head 'Beast is best hunter.' Khristine is really great at every character voice. I especially enjoyed Bruiser English accent and the way Eli says "Babe."

True Dead shows how much Jane life has changed since Skinwalker. It was nice to see how she changed and even apologising when she has done something without thinking of the consequences.

There are great revels and revelations in True Dead, which gave me the feeling that we are coming to the end of the series. I enjoyed how Jane worked things out and how it link what happened in the other books.

Overall True Dead is a really enjoyable read.

My rating for True Dead is 4.5 out of 5.
